Adult survivors of child abuse benefit from a health care community which is not only informed about the needs of adult survivors, but also is trained and experienced in how to best meet those needs. The knowledge about the impact of childhood trauma continues to expand and inform the education and training of health care workers providing trauma-informed services. ASCA is in the unique position of having the needs of adults surviving child abuse at the core of its mission. As ASCA grows so it plans to significantly expand its intellectual base through research and development and provide a crucial role of ongoing education and training within the health care community.
